Campbell Middle School

Congratulations Terri Hughes – CLMS Teacher of the Year

We are proud to nominate Terri Hughes, 7th grade core teacher, as our California League of Middle Schools (CLMS) “Teacher of the Year.”

Terri’s classroom is built upon a strong sense of community as students work cooperatively in a safe, responsible, and respectful environment. She has a core belief that “all students can learn,” and she is dedicated to ensuring their social, emotional, and academic success.  While Terri’s instructional program includes content standards and subject matter information, she also emphasizes soft skills in order to prepare students for the ever-changing and fast-paced world in which we live.  Collaboration and creativity are evident as students work together to discuss important topics and develop problem-solving techniques.

As a teacher leader at our middle school site, Ms. Hughes has served in several leadership capacities:

  • Coordinator of 6th Grade Orientation
  • AVID trained and lead teacher on AVID committee
  • Presenter at Parent Info sessions
  • Member of Site Leadership Team
  • Digital Innovation Leader
  • Google Certified Educator

At the district level, Terri has presented several professional development sessions to middle school staffs.  Topics have included Learning Targets, technology integration, and AVID strategies.  During her 26-year tenure in CUSD, Terri has formally and informally mentored and coached several teachers.  Over the years, colleagues have sung her praises and shared what an excellent and enthusiastic teammate she is.  We are proud to have Terri represent Campbell Middle School and look forward to celebrating her accomplishments at the Region 5 dinner celebration on November 30.
